BREAKING!!! George Floyd Murder: Court Finally Gives Verdict

The Hennepin County Court sitting in Minneapolis, Minnesota, has finally reached a verdict in the highly anticipated murder case of George Floyd, a Negro-American who was tragically murdered in what has been dubbed the face case of police brutality and racial discrimination in America in the 21st Century.

After a long, drawn out deliberation, the court ruled that Derek Chauvin, the officer involved in Floyd’s death was guilty of second-degree unintentional murder, third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter.

As gathered by EKO HOT BLOG, the jury of five men and seven women deliberated for four hours Monday afternoon and resumed deliberating Tuesday morning. The jurors reportedly conferred for a further six hours today; protracted deliberations which is understood to merit a case of this magnitude.

Six of the jurors who reached the verdict are White, four are Black and two are multiracial, according to information released by the court. Two other jurors who were initially selected as alternates were dismissed prior to the start of deliberations. They had been sequestered from the public during deliberations.

Chauvin, 45, had pleaded not guilty to the charges levelled against him by the prosecution.

George Floyd’s murder sparked international outrage after a viral video of Chauvin kneeling on Floyd’s neck for nine minutes was posted by an onlooker who witnessed the murder.

The footage showed George Floyd pleading with Chauvin and telling him several times that he could not breathe, but Chauvin would not budge, not until the life force was fleeced out of dear old Floyd.

The deliberations began after three weeks of testimony in one of the most closely watched cases of the Black Lives Matter era. The prosecution’s case against Chauvin featured 38 witnesses as they sought to show the former Minneapolis Police officer committed murder when he kneeled on the neck and back of Floyd, handcuffed and prone on the street, for 9 minutes and 29 seconds on May 25, 2020.

During trial, the Prosecutors argued that Chauvin’s actions caused Floyd to die from low oxygen, or asphyxia. The defense claimed that Floyd’s illegal drug use and a pre-existing heart condition were to blame and urged jurors not to rule out other theories, as well, including exposure to carbon monoxide.

Chauvin now faces up to 75 years in prison; Second-degree murder carries a maximum sentence of 40 years. Third-degree murder carries a maximum sentence of 25 years. Second-degree manslaughter is punishable by up to 10 years.

The court also revoked Chauvin’s bail and ordered that the ex-police officer be remanded in custody pending sentencing in eight weeks time.
