BREAKING: Gunmen Abduct LG Chairman’s Father In Bayelsa
- Unknown gunmen have abducted a local government chairman’s father in Bayelsa.
EKOHOTBLOG reports that Chief Gbalipre Turner, the father of the Chairman of Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, Hon. Ebinyo Marvin Turner, has been abducted by unknown gunmen suspected to be kidnappers.
It was gathered that Chief Turner, who is also a serving member in the Bayelsa State Board of Internal Revenue, was abducted on Sunday night at his residence on Samphino Road in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital.
A family source disclosed that the father of the LG chairman, who is in his early 70s, was abducted by the assailants around 10pm on Sunday, adding that the gunmen had yet to contact the family.
As gathered by EKOHOTBLOG, the latest abduction was confirmed by the Bayelsa State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Asinim Butswat, noting that the operatives of the command had launched a manhunt on the kidnappers.

“Unknown gunmen suspected to be kidnappers stormed the residence of one Chief Gbalipre Turner ‘m’ on 5 September 2021, at about 2200hours, at Samphino Road, Yenagoa and abducted him to an unknown destination,” Butswat said.
He added that policemen responded swiftly and pursued the kidnappers to Onuebum waterfront, where they abandoned the vehicle used in the kidnap and whisked away with the victim by a speedboat.
Butswat further stated that the State Commissioner of Police, CP Echeng E. Echeng, has ordered a manhunt to rescue the kidnapped victim and arrest the fleeing gunmen.
“The CP further appeals to members of the public to volunteer useful information that will assist the Police in its investigation,” the police spokesperson said.
