  • There was heavy security at National Assembly on Thursday as federal lawmakers waited for President Buhari to present the 2022 Budget.

EKOHOTBLOG reports that there was a heavy presence of security operatives at the National Assembly Complex in Abuja in the early hours of Thursday as President Muhammadu Buhari presents the 2022 Appropriation Bill before a joint session of the National Assembly.

President Buhari, who is billed to present the 2022 Budget before the National Assembly at 12noon, had earlier on Tuesday written to both the Senate and the House of Representatives to notify the lawmakers of his intention to present the Federal Government (FG) budget on Thursday (today).

This online news platform gathered that the premises of the National Assembly had on Wednesday begun to wear a new look especially along the route the President takes from the Presidential Villa to the White House section of the complex, which houses the chambers.

The presentation of the 2022 Budget by the President, EKOHOTBLOG reports, will hold at the House chamber, which has a bigger capacity to contain the 469 members of the parliament, members of the Federal Executive Committee, among others.

It was further gathered that private businesses, including banks and restaurants in the complex, were shut on Thursday as only accredited members of staff, especially those in critical departments, and journalists with a special tag were allowed in.
