EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the creation of 56, 872 Polling Units in the country.
The INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, who made this known on Wednesday, said the expansion became necessary to guarantee unfettered access to Polling Units during elections.
Yakubu disclosed that 749 Polling Units were relocated from private properties, palaces, and worship centres.

The latest development brought the total number of Polling Units in Nigeria to 176,846.
EKO HOT BLOG gathered that feat was achieved after 25 years of futile attempts to expand the Polling Units.
