EKO HOT BLOG reports that during a clearance operation at Lassa and Keller villages in Borno State, troops from the Nigerian Army’s 115 Battalion neutralized several Islamic State’s West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists.
It was gathered that the operation took place around 6 p.m. on Thursday. One guntruck, two civilian Hilux vehicles, and arms were also seized.
The Nigerian military has conducted successful ground and air assaults against ISWAP and rival Boko Haram fighters in recent weeks, killing several high-profile Jihadist commanders.
In 2016, ISWAP broke away from mainstream Boko Haram and rose to become the region’s most powerful group.
