BREAKING: Ize-Iyamu Finally Accepts Defeat

  • All Progressives Congress’ Osagie Ize-Iyamu has finally accepted defeat in the 2020 Edo Governorship race.

 

EkoHotBlog reports that the 2020 Edo Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Osagie Ize-Iyamu has finally accepted defeat to the Peoples Democratic Party candidate and the sitting Governor, Godwin Obaseki.

Ize-Iyamu acknowledged the defeat in a statement titled ‘Because We Were Gallant, Our Hope Is Alive’, which he signed personally on Saturday, May 29, 2021.

The statement read:

“Yesterday, the Supreme Court by its judgment brought to an end our struggle for the office of the governor of Edo State that commenced in September 2020.

“I thank all our supporters as well as our loyal party men and women for your unwavering commitment and sacrifice to the advancement of Edo state and urge you to be law abiding and to be of good cheer.

Ize-Iyamu

“What matters most is that our party, the All Progressive Congress (APC)stood up for what we believe in. We stood up for the placement of our people at the epicenter of governance which is a sharp departure from the norm.”

Ize-Iyamu, therefore, urged party supporters, “As such, let no grievances and no embittered feelings impair the force of our efforts.

“Let us look forward to our coming together to reorganize and position our party to win again. This is in service to our beloved state.”

The APC candidate finally thanked God for the opportunity to seek the office and returned the honour and glory to him.

On September 20, 2020, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared the sitting Governor, Godwin Obaseki as the winner of the September 19 governorship election in the State.

Yesterday, May 28, 2021, the Supreme Court upheld his victory after dismissing the alleged certificate forgery suit filed against the governor.
