EKO HOT BLOG reports that Kanunta Kanu, younger brother of Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) on Friday asked the international community to “act now” and wade into his sibling’s matter.
George Obiozor, president-general of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, said on Thursday that the federal government should adopt political solution on the case of Kanu. But President Muhammadu Buhari, in a recent interview, had said he cannot release Kanu, adding that the IPOB leader should defend himself in court.
Kanu is standing trial on charges bordering on treasonable felony. He has been in the Department of State Services (DSS) custody since his arrest and extradition to Nigeria last June.

IPOB, which is leading the agitation for an independent republic, Biafra, which they want carved out from Nigeria’s South-east and parts of South-south, has been accused of being responsible for the deadly attacks in the South-east and South-south.
Kanu was previously arrested and released on bail. He had jumped bail in 2017.
“The definition of political solution in Nigeria means poisoning or killing the opponents of the government. The international community must act now,” Kanunta Kanu wrote on his known Facebook page.
