EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Emir of Kwatarkwashi in Bungudu Local Government Area (LGA) of Zamfara State, Alhaji Ahmad Umar (Mai-Kwatarshi), has died.
The emir died at his palace on Thursday after a long illness, according to a public announcement signed by Kabiru Balarabe, the Secretary to the Zamfara State Government.
He was buried at Kwatarkwashi around 6:30 p.m., according to Islamic rites.
On March 17, 1961, Mai Kwatarkwashi ascended to the throne. With 61 years on the throne, he was Zamfara State’s oldest emir.
In related news, the Zamfara State Police Command has honored 152 newly promoted officers.
