Manchester United striker Edinson Cavani has agreed to extend his contract at Old Trafford, according to reports.

Cavani, 34, joined United last summer after a seven-year spell at the French capital. However, due to an apparent difficulty in acculturating with the English culture, rumours had been rife that the Uruguay forward would be moving to his native South America to see out the twilight years of his career.

Following what has been a hugely impressive debut campaign in England’s top-flight for the veteran striker, United gaffer, Ole Gunnar Solksjaer and the club’s hierarchy had been intensely committed to keeping El Matador for at least another year.
