BREAKING: Many Feared Dead As Customs Clash With Smugglers

• No fewer than four people were reported dead in Iseyin, Oyo State during a clash between some Customs officers and smugglers on Thursday.
• Sources disclosed that four people died as a result of gunshots they sustained when the customs officers were engaging the smugglers.

No fewer than four people were reported dead in Iseyin, Oyo State during a clash between some Customs officers and smugglers on Thursday.

The incident was said to have occurred on Thursday afternoon when some residents were still celebrating the Eld-Fitri festival in the town.

Sources disclosed that four people died as a result of gunshots they sustained when the customs officers were engaging the smugglers, adding that the customs officers started shooting after intercepting smuggled goods coming through the borders.

It was further learnt that some of those hit by stray bullets were residents who were on ground to celebrate Eld-el-Fitri.

EKO HOT BLOG gathered that the fifth person was severely injured.

The Spokesman of Oyo/Osun Command of Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Mr. Kayode Wey, could not be reached as of the time of writing this report as calls put through his mobile phone were not successful.
