  • Many people have been feared dead as gunmen attacked Kogi community.

EKOHOTBLOG reports that no fewer than nine persons have been feared dead following an attack by gunmen on Bagana community in the Omala Local Government Area of Kogi State.

The attack, it was gathered, occurred in the late hours of Tuesday.

A resident, who spoke on condition of anonymity, disclosed that the gunmen invaded a shop located in the heart of the village and killed four persons on the spot.

The resident further revealed that the assailants shot sporadically in the area as people scampered for safety over fear of being hit by stray bullets.

He added that he counted five corpses from his hiding, which included one Alias Barrister, a diesel dealer, and a dispensary staff of the Local Government Health Center at Ogba, residing in Bagana.

As gathered by EKOHOTBLOG, the incident was confirmed by the Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP William Aya.

The police spokesperson noted that one Usman Salifu called the DPO on phone around 9.30 pm on Tuesday that his shop has been attacked by gunmen leading to the death of his sales boy, Bashir Sule, and three other customers, while scores sustained various degrees of injury.

Aya further stated that on receipt of the distress call, the DPO mobilised police operatives to the scene and evacuated some of the injured to the hospital for treatment.

He added that the state police command has commenced a manhunt to bring the perpetrators to book.
