Alhaji Musiliu Akinsanya, also known as MC Oluomo, has been sworn in as the National President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) at the union’s national secretariat in Abuja.
Akinsanya was elected through consensus during the Quadrennial Delegate Conference at the Zonal Secretariat in Osogbo, Osun State, on Saturday. The election, which involved four Southwest states—Ogun, Lagos, Ekiti, and Ondo—was held after the national body zoned the position to the region.
Amidst celebratory songs, Akinsanya was warmly welcomed into the union’s national secretariat by a large crowd. He was introduced to the National Administrative Council (NAC) and the Central Working Committee (CWC) members.
The official swearing-in ceremony soon followed, with the union’s Legal Officer, Mercy Ibeh, overseeing the proceedings. In addition to Akinsanya’s swearing-in as national president, Alhaji Tajudeen Agbede and Akeem Adeosun were sworn in as Vice President for the Southwest and Trustee, respectively.
Akinsanya expressed his heartfelt gratitude to everyone who supported his election and swearing-in, thanking union members and his admirers. He promised to uphold the constitution of the union and lead it to greater heights with the help of Allah.
He also called for unity and peace among union members, assuring them that their welfare would be his top priority.
