Football star says he does not want to become enmeshed in legal dispute with Barcelona

The contentious transfer saga that has rocked Barcelona in the past few weeks appears to have been put to rest after the club captain Lionel Messi agreed to remain with the Catalan giant.

Messi’s decision to backtrack on the decision to leave was spurred by the club insistence to sell the Argentine star for nothing less than €700 million

The player said he did not want to force a move as he didn’t want to become embroiled in a litigation with a club that’s done so much for him.

In a recorded interview with Goal, the Argentine talisman said: “I was not happy and wanted to leave. I have not been cleared in any way and will continue with the club so as not to get into a legal dispute. The management of the club led by Bartomeu is a disaster.”

Barcelona was linked to Manchester City and PSG during the transfer imbroglio that saw him refuse to turn up for preseason training.
