EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Argentina and Inter Miami star Lionel Messi has been named FIFA The Best Men’s Player for 2023, following a ceremony held by the world football-governing body in London on Monday.
The 36 year-old who won the FIFA World Cup in Qatar in December 2022, helped his new team Inter Miami win the inaugural Leagues Cup last year.

Meanwhile, Spain and FC Barcelona Femeni star Aitana Bonmati was named The Best FIFA Women’s Player of the Year for the year 2023 for leading Spain to their first-ever FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand last summer, while FC Barcelona claimed the Spanish top-flight division title and the UEFA Women’s Champions League crown.
Other awardees on the night include Mary Earps (Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year), Pep Guardiola (Men’s Coach of the Year) and Sarina Weigman (Women’s Coach of the Year).
