As gathered by EkoHotBlog, Museveni of the National Resistance Movement, in the keenly contested election that began on Thursday and ended on Saturday, reportedly garnered over 5 million (58.64%) of the 9.9 million valid votes cast to defeat nine other contenders.

His closest rival, Robert Kyagulanyi (Bobi Wine) of National Unity Party, had 34.83% of the total votes cast 34,684 PUs across the country.
Museveni has been President of the East African country since 1986, having played a crucial role in toppling erstwhile dictator, Idi Amin Dada.
In recent years the 76 year-old Museveni has seen growing resistance against his 34-year reign, largely led by pop star cum politician, Robert Kyagulanyi popularly known as Bobi Wine.
Bobi Wine, who has lamented severe political intimidation during the build-up to Thursday’s election has recently cried foul over the excessive use of force by Ugandan authorities2 against his supporters during the course of the voting exercise, the 39-year-old former musician also decried the shut down of social media in the East African country two days to the Presidential election.
