BREAKING: NAF Announces Committee To Probe Plane Crashes

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has set up a committee to investigate multiple crashes in the country.
The NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore, Edward Gabkwet, made this known on Tuesday.

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has set up a committee to investigate multiple crashes involving its aircraft in the country, EKO HOT BLOG reports.

The latest development was made known by the NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore, Edward Gabkwet, via a statement on Tuesday.

The NAF spokesperson, in the statement titled, ‘NAF Sets Up Committee To Conduct Safety Audit Of Its Operational And Engineering Units’, disclosed that the committee was constituted by the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Oladayo Amao.

Gabkwet further noted that the committee comprises serving and retired officers.

The statement read, “The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Oladayo Amao has constituted a Committee of serving and retired senior officers to conduct a safety audit of all Nigerian Air Force operational and engineering units.

“The Committee is to, among other terms of reference, analyse safety reports from operational and engineering units, conduct safety evaluation of NAF units and recommend measures to enhance safety of operations in the units.

“The Committee is also to interact with unit operational and technical personnel for views, observations and contributions on safety measures. Chaired by Air Vice Marshal Abraham Adole, the Deputy Theatre Commander, Operation HADIN KAI, the Committee is to submit its report not later than 18 June 2021.”

There have been widespread concerns over the three plane crashes that occurred within three months in the country.

No fewer than 20 military officers have lost their lives in the three crashes involving the Nigerian Air Force jets.

The last incident was the crash at the Kaduna International Airport which claimed the lives of 11 military personnel including the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen Ibrahim Attahiru, last Friday.
