Darkness has fallen over Nigeria as the national grid experienced another collapse on Monday.
Emeka Ezeh, the spokesperson for the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC), confirmed the grid failure in a statement released on Monday evening.
According to Ezeh, the general system collapse occurred at 6:48 PM on October 14, 2024.
The EEDC reported that this incident has resulted in a widespread loss of power supply across its franchise areas.
“The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company PLC (EEDC) wishes to inform our valued customers of a general system collapse that occurred at 6:48 PM today, 14th October 2024. This has led to the loss of supply currently being experienced across the EEDC network.
“As a result, all our interface Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) stations are out of supply, preventing us from providing services to our customers in Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, and Imo States.
“We are on standby, awaiting detailed information about the collapse and the restoration of supply from the National Control Centre (NCC) in Osogbo,” he stated.
