BREAKING: NDA Confirms Bandits’ Attack, Reveals Identities Of Officers Killed
- The Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) has confirmed the attack on the barracks by bandits in the early hours of Tuesday.
EKOHOTBLOG reports that the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) has confirmed that two personnel were killed when bandits attacked the Afaka barracks in Kaduna on Tuesday.
The NDA confirmed the attack via a statement by the Academy Public Relations Officer, Major Bashir Jajira, on Tuesday.
EKOHOTBLOG had earlier on Tuesday reported that the bandits invaded the Afaka barracks of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) in Kaduna, and killed a naval officer.
The bandits were also said to have abducted two majors but the report cannot independently be verified.
However, the NDA, while confirming the attack on Tuesday, noted that an officer was abducted by the bandits.
The statement read, “The security architecture of the Nigerian Defence Academy was compromised early this morning by unknown gunmen who gained access into the residential area within the Academy in Afaka. During the unfortunate incident, we lost two personnel and one was abducted.
“The Academy in collaboration with the 1Division Nigerian Army and Air Training Command as well as other security agencies in Kaduna State has since commenced pursuit of the unknown gunmen within the general area with a view to tracking them and rescuing the abducted personnel.

“The NDA community and Cadets are safe in the Academy. We assure the general public that these unknown gunmen would soon be apprehended and the abducted personnel rescued,” the NDA stated.
Meanwhile, a Lieutenant Commander simply identified as Wulah and Flying Lieutenant CM Okoronwo have been identified as the victims who were shot dead during the invasion of NDA in the early hours of Tuesday.
A source within the barracks disclosed that the assailants struck when many were asleep.
The source further stated that security has been beefed up to prevent the bandits from escaping with their victims.
