BREAKING: Organized Labour Suspends Nationwide Strike
Eko Hot Blog reports that the organised Labour has suspended its nationwide strike for five days.
This decision was taken to facilitate productive discussions and negotiations regarding the new minimum wage.
The Nigerian Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress suspended the strike after its joint national executive council (NEC) meeting in Abuja on Tuesday
According to TheCable, top official of the NLC disclosed that the strike has been “relaxed for a few days”.
The industrial action paralysed economic and government activities across the nation for two days.
Recall that Labour leaders had a successful meeting with the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, George Akume, and other government officials on Monday and reached a resolution that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was committed to a new minimum wage higher than N60,000.
They equally resolved that the Tripartite Committee would meet every day for the next one week with a view to arriving at an agreeable National Minimum Wage.
With the strike suspended, every government and private offices are expected to reopen and function as usual.
