The failure of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to release the Governorship election results Yola, Adamawa State’s capital, has caused unrest in the state.
According to reports, political thugs and miscreants have launched terror assaults and other criminal inclinations on the state’s citizens.
The problem started at the INEC Collation Center after the Returning Officer, Professor Mohamed Mele, said that the results will be revealed on Monday morning at around 1 a.m.
As word of the postponement reached the state capital, hordes of thugs took over key sites to attack innocent individuals including bystanders, cars, and pedestrians.
Politicians, journalists, INEC employees, and others in the Collation Centre are being kept prisoner at the INEC headquarters because no one dares to leave. Only the Service Commanders were able to sneak themselves back to their homes, while those who were at INEC on election duty were held hostage.
