EKO HOT BLOG reports that President Muhammadu Buhari has on Wednesday decorated the new Chief of Army Staff, Major-General Farouk Yahaya.
Major-General Farouk Yahaya was decorated with the Lieutenant-General rank at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
President Buhari, who was assisted by the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, performed the brief ceremony just before this week’s Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting on Wednesday.

Dignitaries present at the brief ceremony include the Chief of Staff to the President, Professor Ibrahim Gambari; National Security Adviser (NSA), Major-General Babagana Monguno; Minister of Defense, Major-General Bashir Salihi Magashi; Chairman of the Senate Committee on Defense, Senator Ali Ndume; and wife of the Chief of Army Staff, Hajiya Salamatu Yahaya, among others.
EKO HOT BLOG recalls that Major-General Farouk Yahaya was appointed by President Buhari after the death of late Army Chief, Lt.-Gen Ibrahim Attahiru, who died in an ill-fated Nigerian Air Force plane at the Kaduna International Airport.
