BREAKING: Sanwo-Olu Receives Southern Governors In Lagos

Some of the governors already in Lagos as of the time of writing this report include Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (Ondo), Nyesom Wike (Rivers), and Adegboyega Oyetola (Osun).

The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has in the early hours of Monday received 16 Southern Governors into the state.

The Southern Governors, on Monday morning, converged at Alausa, Ikeja, the venue of their meeting on the state of the nation.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the meeting is holding eight weeks after the governors met in Asaba, the Delta State capital, on May 11, 2021.

It was gathered that the Southern Governors will today further assess decisions taken in Asaba on the open grazing ban, restructuring, fiscal federalism, and the call for state police.

Some of the governors already in Lagos as of the time of writing this report include Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (Ondo), Nyesom Wike (Rivers), and Adegboyega Oyetola (Osun).

Others are Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia), Emmanuel Udom (Akwa Ibom), Diri Duoye (Bayelsa), Willie Obiano (Anambra), Ben Ayade (Cross Rivers), Ifeanyi Okowa (Delta), David Umahi (Ebonyi), Godwin Obaseki (Edo), Kayode Fayemi (Ekiti), Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu), Hope Uzodimma (Imo), Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), and Oluwaseyi Makinde (Oyo).

EKO HOT BLOG recalls that a meeting was held on May 11, 2021, in Asaba, the Delta State capital, where the Southern Governors jointly decided to enforce the ban on open grazing in all Southern states.

The Southern Governors also agreed that the progress of the country required that urgent and bold steps be taken to restructure the Nigerian Federation leading to the evolution of state police.

They further called for the review of revenue allocation formula in favour of the sub-national governments as well as the creation of other institutions which legitimately advance commitment to the practice of true federalism.
