BREAKING: Scores Feared Dead, Houses Razed As Bandits Attack Katsina Community

Tragedy struck in Tsauwa, Batsari Local Government Area of Katsina State as unknown gunmen suspected to be bandits attacked the community, killing no fewer than 19 residents and razed houses.

EKO HOT BLOG gathered that the bandits stormed the village around 11.30pm on Monday and invaded the area till the early hours of Tuesday.

It was learnt that the bandits, on arrival at the village, shot sporadically, leading to the death of many residents.

One of the locals, who declined to be named, disclosed that the bandits also shot at those fleeing the village for safety in neighbouring communities.

“When they (the bandits) came, they started shooting and pursuing people who were trying to escape and those attempting to escape into the forest.

“As at last count, they killed 19 persons and we buried them this morning (Tuesday) while those injured have been taken to hospital for treatment,” the resident said.

EKO HOT BLOG further gathered that the assailants also razed many houses in the village.

The Katsina State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Gambo Isah, when contacted, said the “Commissioner of Police, Sanusi Buba, who personally visited the village, had instructed DC Operations and DC CID to ensure that the attackers are apprehended and brought to book.”
