BREAKING: Security Operatives Repel Attack On Police Station, Kill Eight Gunmen

No fewer than eight gunmen were killed by security operatives on Thursday night after they resisted an attack on Orlu Divisional Police Headquarters in Imo State.

This is just as the joint security operatives recovered seven vehicles the assailants came in for the operation.

EKO HOT BLOG gathered that the security operatives engaged the gunmen in gun battle for several hours before the military sent reinforcement from the 34 Artillery Brigade in Obinze, Owerri, the Imo State capital.

A resident of the area disclosed that the gun duel created an atmosphere of panic as people scampered for safety, adding that the Roads in Orlu town and its environs were deserted during the attack.

He further stated that an Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) was allegedly set ablaze at Umuna junction in Orlu town, noting that one of his cousins was hit by a stray bullet.

A senior police officer, who confirmed the incident, disclosed that the corpses of the attackers and their vehicles had been brought to the state police command headquarters in Owerri.

He noted that the police divisional headquarters was not razed neither was any security officer killed in the attack.
