BREAKING: Staff Abducted As Bandits Attack UniAbuja

  • Bandits have attacked UniAbuja and abducted staff of the institution.

 

EKOHOTBLOG reports that some staff of the University of Abuja have been abducted following an attack on the institution by bandits in the wee hours of Tuesday.

A resident, Dzarma Idris, disclosed that sporadic gunshots by the gunmen rented the university at 12:14am before some members of staff were whisked away to an unknown destination.

Another resident further disclosed that seven persons were abducted during the attack, adding that the gunmen operated for over two hours.

As gathered by EKOHOTBLOG, the incident was confirmed by the spokesperson of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command, Josephine Adeh, noting that the security operatives are on top of the situation.

She, however, failed to disclose details of the number of persons abducted by the assailants.

The university also confirmed the incident via a statement but did not give details of abducted staff.

The statement read, “Suspected bandits attacked the staff quarters of the University in the early hours of today.

“Our Safety officers, in conjunction with security personnel, mobilised to secure the quarters.

“We have report that four of our staff and their children were, nevertheless, abducted by the evil men. Efforts are being made to ensure their safe return. A sad day for us, indeed,” the university stated.
