BREAKING: Sunday Igboho’s Extradition Hearing Begins Today

  • “We know the magnitude of what the Nigerian government is trying to do if they try to get hold of Igboho but they will fail, by God’s grace.”

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the court hearing on the extradition of the arrested Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo fondly known as Sunday Igboho, will begin on Thursday (today) in the Benin Republic.

This was disclosed by Igboho’s spokesperson, Olayomi Koiki during a live update in the early hours of Thursday.

Koiki disclosed that the sitting will be held at 10am at the Benin Republic court.

He said, “The court will determine the fate of the extradition and we’ll also have the opportunity to present our case especially on the personality of Igboho.

“We know the magnitude of what the Nigerian government is trying to do if they try to get hold of Igboho but they will fail, by God’s grace.

“Their intention was to capture him (Igboho), but God fought for him,” Igboho’s spokesperson stated.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that Sunday Igboho is currently in the custody of the operatives of Brigade criminelle in Cotonou, the Benin Republic.

Recall that Sunday Igboho and his wife, Ropo, were arrested by the International Criminal Police Organisation (INTERPOL) at the Cadjèhoun Airport in Cotonou, the Benin Republic on Monday night while attempting to flee to Germany.

However, the Federal Government of Nigeria has since been pushing for their extradition to Abuja, the nation’s capital, but many individuals and groups have kicked against the move.

EKO HOT BLOG further recalls that the Department of State Services (DSS) had declared Sunday Igboho wanted for allegedly stockpiling arms, an allegation he has since denied.

The DSS had raided Igboho’s Ibadan residence in the Soka area on July 1, 2021, arrested about 12 of his aides, and killed two of them in a gun battle.

The Federal Government of Nigeria later placed the Nigeria Immigration Service and the Nigeria Customs Service on alert to stop the Yoruba Nation agitator from leaving the country.
