Bandits hit Plateau communities, kill several people

EKO HOT BLOG reports that in two separate incidents in Plateau State’s Wase Local Government Areas (LGAs), at least five individuals were slain and hundreds of cattle were rustled in Shegyam and Dogon Ruwa communities.
The attacks were reportedly carried out in the early hours of Wednesday by criminal organizations known as bandits in the area.
The attackers initially assaulted Shegyam, killing two people, before moving on to Dogon Ruwa, killing three more people and robbing hundreds of animals.
The incident has been confirmed by the police. Plateau state borders Kaduna state, which is currently a refuge for bandits.

Bandits killed more than 2,600 civilians in 2021, according to the Wisconsin-based Armed Conflict Location and Event Data Project (ACLED), a 250 percent rise from 2020. In the same year, the number of civilian casualties attributed to Boko Haram and the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) was dwarfed.
