BREAKING: UAE Lifts Ban On Nigerian Flights

  • The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has lifted its travel ban on Nigeria.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will on Thursday lift a ban on transit flights from Nigeria.

The latest development was disclosed via a post on the Twitter handle of the National Emergency and Crisis Management Authority (NCEMA) on Tuesday.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the UAE will also on Thursday lifts a ban on flights from India, and Pakistan.

NCEMA stated that passengers travelling from countries where flights had been banned earlier would be able to transit through its airports from Thursday, August 5, 2021, as long as they present a negative PCR COVID-19 test taken 72 hours prior to departure.

EKO HOT BLOG recalls that the UAE had in June announced a ban on flights from Nigeria to Dubai.

The announcement came after the UAE announced that it has finally lifted the ban on travels between Dubai and Nigeria.

EKO HOT BLOG understands that Dubai had earlier placed a ban on travellers from Nigeria, India, and South Africa over the breach of COVID-19 protocols.

UAE, in a message from the Dubai Media Office, announced that passengers from Nigeria are expected to ”provide a negative result for a PCR test taken within 48 hours before departure.”

“Passengers from these countries are also expected to present a negative PCR test certificate with a OR code from laboratories approved by the Nigerian government, while also undergoing the same test upon arrival at the Dubai airport,” the Dubai Media Office stated.

UAE had in the message fixed Wednesday, June 23, 2021, for resumption of flights to Nigeria.

However, in a statement on its website on June 19, the airline stated that the UAE has made a U-turn with a new travel update indicating that Lagos and Abuja flights would no longer resume on Wednesday as earlier announced.
