  • WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook have all gone down all over the world.

EKOHOTBLOG reports that WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook, gone down on Monday in what appeared to be another major global outage, leaving billions of users unable to use the platforms.

According to data on Downdetector, the three social media platforms owned by Mark Zuckerberg, stopped working around 4:30pm on Monday.

EKOHOTBLOG reports that since the global outage began, WhatsApp has not been loading while a note reading “this site can’t be reached” was displayed during attempts to access Facebook and Instagram.

However, the representatives of WhatsApp, Facebook, and Instagram have responded to the outage with tweets on their Twitter handles.

On Twitter, @WhatsApp tweeted, “We’re aware that some people are experiencing issues with WhatsApp at the moment.

“We’re working to get things back to normal and will send an update here as soon as possible.

“Thanks for your patience!”

Also, @Facebook wrote, “We’re aware that some people are having trouble accessing our apps and products. We’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible, and we apologize for any inconvenience.”

Similarly, @InstagramComms stated, “Instagram and friends are having a little bit of a hard time right now, and you may be having issues using them. Bear with us, we’re on it! #instagramdown.”

EKOHOTBLOG reports that the latest development makes it the second time in 2021 that Facebook-owned services would be experiencing a global outage with the first happening in March.

Also, it would be recalled that the platforms were in 2019 hit by a three-hour outage, leaving billions of users frustrated and unable to connect all over the world.

According to Statista, Nigeria as of January 2021, had about 33 million active social media users.

WhatsApp is the most popular platform used in Nigeria with over 90 million users, while about 61.4 percent of Nigerian social media users use Twitter, 86.2 percent use Facebook, 81.6 percent use YouTube, 73.1 percent use Instagram, and 67.2 percent use Facebook Messenger.
