EKOHOTBLOG reports that the Oyo State Government has explained the reasons the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III and the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji, Aje Ogungunniso I, could not enter the Lekan Salami Stadium Complex during its commissioning on Wednesday.
Recall that Alaafin and Olubadan left the Lekan Salami Sports Complex in anger on Wednesday evening after security operatives deployed at the entrance of the newly remodelled stadium prevented them from entering the stadium.
It was gathered that the 82-year-old Alaafin and the 93-year-old Olubadan were made to wait for almost 30 minutes as the security operatives at the gate were said to have insisted that just one of the aides would be allowed to go in with each of the monarchs.
However, the Oyo State Government, while reacting to the incident via a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Seyi Makinde, Mr. Taiwo Adisa, stated that the two first class monarchs were too important to the state government to be prevented from attending the event, to which they had been duly invited.
The statement issued on Thursday was titled, ‘Lekan Salami Stadium unveiling: Alaafin, Olubadan not stopped from entering -Oyo Govt’.
The state government, in the statement, explained that the inability of the royal fathers to gain access into the stadium was because of the huge enthusiastic crowd present in the stadium.

It further noted that the huge crowd obstructed the movement of the monarchs’ convoys to the designated VVIP Drop Off zone, which was the easiest channel to their reserved seats.
