The incident occurred on March 7, 2024, when an off-duty police officer spotted Stormzy behind the wheel of his Rolls-Royce in west Kensington, London. Stormzy pleaded guilty via a letter to the charge of using a mobile phone while driving.
District Judge Andrew Sweet, who handed down the ruling, criticized Stormzy’s “dangerous and irresponsible” behavior, noting his “poor” driving record. Sweet imposed a £2,010 ($2,498) fine and added six penalty points to Stormzy’s driving licence.
Before the hearing, Stormzy already had six points on his licence for a previous speeding offence. In the UK, drivers can be disqualified if they accumulate 12 or more points within three years.
