Pastor Samuel Sanusi, General Secretary of the Bible Society of Nigeria (BSN), announced the event on Sunday during the opening ceremony at Christ Anglican Church, Elere-Agege, Lagos. Sanusi was represented by Mr. Yemi Olayiwola, Assistant General Secretary for Corporate Development at BSN.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that the marathon, running daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., aims to encourage Christians from all walks of life to engage in daily Bible reading, regardless of denomination, profession, age, or gender.
Sanusi urged leaders to seek divine guidance and lead with integrity, emphasizing the importance of making Bible reading a daily practice. “If Nigerians embrace daily Bible reading and live according to biblical principles, it will positively impact our nation, and God will surely heal our land,” he said.
Venerable Israel Owoyele, Vicar of Christ Anglican Church, emphasized that the scriptures hold the key to solving Nigeria’s issues. “The answers to our nation’s problems are in the Bible. Throughout history, when Israel strayed from God’s path, He sent leaders to correct them. God forgave and healed them when they repented.”
He expressed hope that the Marathon Bible Reading would inspire more people to embrace the Bible and live by its teachings, describing the scriptures as a profound treasure.
