Eko Hot Blog reports that Buckingham Palace has announced May 6, 2023, for the coronation ceremony of British Monarch, King Charles III.
The palace made the announcement in a statement on Tuesday.
It said the ceremony will take place at Westminster Abbey, London, United Kingdom.
Buckingham Palace noted that the coronation will look towards the future, while being rooted in longstanding traditions.
“Buckingham Palace is pleased to announce that the Coronation of His Majesty The King will take place on Saturday 6th May, 2023,” the statement read.
“The Coronation Ceremony will take place at Westminster Abbey, London, and will be conducted by the Archbishop of Canterbury.
“The Ceremony will see His Majesty King Charles III crowned alongside The Queen Consort.
“The Coronation will reflect the monarch’s role today and look towards the future, while being rooted in longstanding traditions and pageantry.
“Further details will be announced in due course.”
Charles became Britain’s monarch in September following the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II.
The 73-year-old was formally proclaimed the new King of the United Kingdom in a ceremony at St. James’ Palace days after his mother’s death.
However, Charles’s coronation has been scheduled for next year to allow an appropriate period of time to mourn the previous sovereign and to plan the ceremony.
