Ex-President Buhari Reacts To Aiyedatiwa’s Victory In Ondo

Former President Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa on his re-election as the governor of Ondo State following a landslide victory in the state’s gubernatorial election.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that in a statement issued on Sunday by his spokesperson, Mallam Garba Shehu, Buhari expressed his delight over the APC’s success in the polls and commended the voters for their clear and decisive support.

“The voters have spoken lucidly and loudly about the confidence they have in the party and the governor. Their wish, expressed through the ballot box, should be respected by other stakeholders,” Buhari said.

Buhari further emphasized the outcome of the election as a testament to the resilience of Nigeria’s democracy, praising the country’s ability to maintain democratic processes despite its vast and diverse population.

While celebrating the victory, Buhari urged the governor-elect to focus on addressing key challenges, including economic growth, high unemployment, inflation, and the effective implementation of welfare programs that can improve the lives of the citizens.

The former president also commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and law enforcement agencies for improving the electoral process by addressing issues that had plagued previous elections, ensuring a more transparent and efficient process.

Buhari concluded by wishing Governor Aiyedatiwa a successful tenure and encouraged him to build on his previous achievements, remaining dedicated to serving the people of Ondo State.
