President Muhammadu Buhari has signed into law the Bill establishing the Federal University, Gashua, Yobe State.
With the signing of the bill into law, the young university has been given the needed impetus and legal backing to pursue and achieve its vision of becoming a leading centre of excellence, distinguished by its innovative and competitive approach to teaching, learning, research and service to humanity.
Recall that the Nigerian Senate had on Wednesday 18th, December, 2019 passed a bill seeking to establish the Federal University, Gashua in Yobe State.
Reacting to the recent development on Saturday, the Vice Chancellor Federal University, Gashua, Professor Andrew Haruna expressed his appreciation to President Muhammadu Buhari for assenting to the bill.
He also thanked the President of the Senate, Ahmed Ibrahim Lawan for sponsoring the bill and members of the National Assembly for its passage.
Professor Haruna equally congratulated the University community charging them to remain focused and rededicate themselves towards achieving the mission and vision for which the University is established.
Federal University, Gashua was among universities established during the reign of former Nigeria’s President, Goodluck Jonathan.
