The celebrated officer, Superintendent Daniel Itse Amah was said to have recently rejected the sum of $200,000 offered to him to drop a armed robbery case.
Amah, however, reportedly rejected the offer and proceeded with the investigations and eventually had the culprits apprehended and prosecuted.
President Buhari, at the 4th National Summit Diminishing Corruption in the Public Sector that was held in Abuja yesterday, commended the personnel for maintaining integrity in the service.
A statement issued by the Nigerian leader via his official Twitter page reads: “Congratulations to the winner of this year’s Public Service Integrity Award, SUPERINTENDENT DANIEL ITSE AMAH, of @PoliceNG who rejected the sum of $200,000 offered to him to drop an armed robbery case, and followed up with investigations until the culprits were prosecuted.
“It was my pleasure to present the Award to him today at the 4th National Summit on Diminishing Corruption in the Public Sector, in Abuja. I commend the Chairman of @icpcnigeria, SGF and Registrar @JAMBHQ for organizing the Summit and bringing together all relevant stakeholders.
“This year’s edition of the Summit focused on Corruption in the Education Sector and on our Campuses, which takes various forms: Cash for marks/grades, s£x for marks, s£x for grade alterations, examination malpractice, pay-roll padding, also known as ‘ghost workers’, lecturers taking up full-time appointments in more than one academic institution, including private institutions, lecturers writing seminar papers, projects and dissertations for students for a fee, admission racketeering, amongst others.
