Buhari Counters Southern Govs On Open Grazing, Disowns Tinubu’s Presidential Ambition

  • President Buhari noted that, at the expiration of his second term in office, he will return to his cows to keep himself occupied.

The President, Gen Muhammadu Buhari (Rtd), has weighed in on the recent resolve by Southern Governors to illegalize Open Grazing, insisting that the practice of Open Grazing by nomadic herdsmen remains in force in the country.

As gathered by Eko Hot Blog, the President stated this on Thursday when he appeared in an interview on Arise TV to shed ample light on the state of the nation.

According to the President, the country will continue its practice of open grazing, albeit grazers will only be restricted to existing grazing routes.

President Buhari noted that, at the expiration of his second term in office, he will return to his cows to keep himself occupied. He also stated that he had consulted the gazette on grazing routes, which he claimed was operational previously, for effective execution.

Buhari also condemned the use of AK47 by herdsmen, noting that the only weapon traditional herders should carry aside their rod, is cutlass, which they use in clearing obstacles along the bushes while they travel from settlement to settlement.

The President also dropped what many believe is a bombshell on the rumoured Presidential ambition of the National Leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Asked exactly where his party had zoned the presidency in 2023 within the Southern part of the country, the President answered in the negative, and added that that would be decided by the party’s hierarchy.

According to him, the party’s bottom top modus operandi makes it possible for everyone within the APC, from the dregs to the top to have a say on where the next Presidential ticket will be zoned to.
