– Napoli would announce the singing in of Victor soon.
Nigeria’s Deputy Ambassador to Italy, Franklin Ogunyemi, has said the pending transfer of Nigeria international Victor Osimhen to Napoli has come as great news to Nigerians.
He further stated that the President, Muhammadu Buhari, is also happy with the development.
Napoli are expected to announce the signing of the 21-year-old from Lille any time soon and Ogunyemi, who appeared on Radio Kiss Kiss, a Naples based radio station, said the entire diplomatic staff in the Nigerian Embassy in Italy were delighted with the move.
He said, “The entire Nigerian diplomatic mission, headed by Ambassador Yusuf Jonga Hinna, is very happy with Victor Osimhen’s transfer to Naples.
“We know that the Head of State of our country, Muhammadu Buhari, is also happy with this transfer. Osimhen is a young player, but already very strong.
“He will perhaps be the highest-paid African player, a sign that we are talking about a very talented boy.
“He is strong, fast, and tactical. He has a characteristic of the Nigerian population: he never gives up. For these reasons, I compare him to Ronaldo.
“The Nigeria Football Federation is happy with it, thanks because in turn, it will find a player improved by the strength of an extraordinary league like the Italian one.
“Naples represents the right choice, the ideal place to grow and bring the club at even higher levels. Then, in Naples – as in the rest of Italy – there is a large representation of the Nigerian population who will certainly be cheering for Osimhen and, consequently guenza, for Napoli.”
Osimhen scored 18 goals in his first season with Lille, a performance that caught the attention of top clubs in Europe.
