EKO HOT BLOG reports on Nigeria’s President’s latest statement pertaining to insecurity as Muhamamdu Buhari lays the blame on powerful countries bent on destroying Nigeria from within.

During a presidential lunch in Kano on Monday, President Buhari emphasized the significance of regional cooperation in addressing the issue of insurgency in Borno state after a tour of the state to commission various projects carried out by the administration of Governor Ganduje.

According to the President, foreign countries have taken advantage of the weaker parts of Nigeria, particularly the Lake Chad region, where crude oil reserves are located, to cause serious mayhem and insecurity.

However, he praised the efforts of Governor Zulum in tackling these challenges, saying that the story of the area would have been different by now if not for the governor’s dedication to his duty.

The President also pointed out that when he took office in 2015, only four of Borno’s 17 local government areas were not under the control of Boko Haram.

Today, most of these areas have been freed from the grip of the insurgents, he noted. Buhari attributes the insecurities in the region to the potential wealth of Borno state and emphasized the need for neighbors to work together for their mutual survival.

In addition to his remarks on regional cooperation, the President commended the efforts of Governors Ganduje, Lagos, Kaduna, Katsina, and Kogi for their contributions to the development of their respective states.

He also emphasized the importance of educating the youth and urged the elite to take the education of young people seriously, as the lack of education is a major problem facing the country.
