EKO HOT BLOG reports that President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed his condolences to the two Nigerian Air Force, NAF pilots who died in the plane crash in Kaduna.
Buhari also applauded the Nigerian Air Force’s commitment to investigate the reason for the jet disaster.
He also urged the Air Force not to stop at its investigations alone but to publish and implement the recommendations of the reports of past investigations into air accidents, so as to prevent future tragedies.
Buhari’s message is contained in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, titled ‘President Buhari mourns victims of Nigerian Air Force plane crash in Kaduna.’
This online news media platform recalls that a Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Super Mushshak trainer plane crashed near Kaduna, killing its two occupants, Abubakar Alkali and Elijah Karatu, both flying lieutenants.
This is the NAF’s fifth plane to crash in the last 12 months.
At least 20 officers, including senior army officials, were killed in the sad circumstances.
The crash involving the late Chief of Army Staff, Ibrahim Attahiru, and ten others was the most prominent.
The air force is attempting to acquire additional equipment to aid insurgents and bandits in various sections of the country.
Mr Buhari, in his condolence message to the NAF pilots, encouraged the air force to follow the recommendations of previous investigations in order to prevent such occurrences.
