Eko Hot Blog reports that a book detailing how the conscience of former President Muhammadu Buhari shaped his style of leadership will be released on Monday.
The book, titled “Conversation with Muhammadu Buhari’s Conscience,” was written by Paul Powell. It highlights how Buhari’s conscience shaped his choices on issues such as poverty, insecurity, corruption, and democracy.
Powell examines Buhari’s conscience and will, which guided him through the different phases of his career, when he was the military head of state and a democratically elected president. He also explores the role of key political players in Buhari’s political journey, including his wife and the members of his “kitchen cabinet.”
Each chapter of the book focuses on one phase of Buhari’s political career. One chapter deals with his military rule from 1983 to 1985, and another chapter details his civilian presidency from 2015 to 2023 and the challenges he faced. A chapter is also devoted to the simmering tensions between Buhari and President Bola Tinubu, which was managed for eight years.
Interested readers can pre-order the book on Amazon, either in electronic or print versions.
The book’s release is a timely one, as it comes just a few months after Buhari left office. It will be interesting to see how Powell’s insights into Buhari’s leadership style are received by both the public and historians.
