Fear gripped the Sabo area of Osogbo, Osun state, on Sunday, July 14, as an abandoned building collapsed, trapping five people inside.
Eko Hot Blog gathered that the uncompleted storey building, which had been used as a hideout by cultists and hoodlums, collapsed around 7:30 am.
Security operatives, including the Nigerian Security Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), responded to the scene with rescue teams and cranes to rescue those trapped.
Tunde, a source familiar with the area, revealed that the building had been a den for criminal activity and had been raided by security operatives several times before its collapse.
Kehinde Adeleke, spokesperson for the NSCDC, Osun State Command, confirmed the incident, stating that two people had been rescued, while three others remained trapped under the decking, requiring the use of a crane for rescue efforts.
The incident has drawn the attention of government dignitaries, including the SSG, LGA chairman, Police commissioner, and OSEMA, who are working together to rescue those trapped and sanitize the area.
