Eko Hot Blog reports that Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has provided an update on the bus-train accident that killed six people earlier in March 2023.
The accident injured nearly 100 passengers who were admitted at various state health facilities.
In a post on Twitter on Thursday, the governor disclosed that the number of discharged passengers has risen to 77.
He promised that the government will continue to support the recovering passengers.
Sanwo-Olu also revealed that 19 patients involved in the accident are still receiving treatment.
“I am pleased to announce that 77 passengers have been discharged from various hospitals across Lagos State after receiving treatment for injuries sustained during the Train/Bus accident,” the governor said.
“We will continue to support them in their recovery process.
“We have 19 patients still receiving treatment and our medical personnel are working round the clock to ensure their full recovery.”
He urged everyone to continue to pray for the quick recovery of the victims in the hospital.
According to a breakdown released by the Lagos State Ministry of Health on Wednesday, of the 19 patients on admission, 16 are at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), two are at the General Hospital Odan, Lagos, while the General Hospital, Gbagada, is attending to the remaining one patient.
The ministry said the death toll still remains at six; two at the site of the accident and four at LASUTH during resuscitation.
