Edo Queens were held to a goalless draw by Egypt’s FC Masar on Wednesday in their second Group B match at the 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League in Morocco, leaving their semifinal hopes hanging by a thread.
The Nigerian and West African champions remain at the top of the group with four points, level with their Egyptian counterparts.
Mamelodi Sundowns are in third place with three points after their dominant 4-0 win over CBE in the group’s opening match on Wednesday.
To secure their spot in the semifinals, Moses Aduku’s side will need at least a draw against Sundowns in their final group game on Saturday at Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca.
A loss to the defending champions would allow Masar to qualify, provided they beat the already-eliminated CBE.
After a surprising 1-0 loss to Masar in their opener, Sundowns bounced back with a commanding victory over CBE, keeping their title defense alive ahead of Saturday’s crucial showdown against Edo Queens.
