Canada has joined the UK to approve the Pfizer/BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine.
This was contained in a statement by the country’s health regulator, Health Canada.
Eko Hot Blog gathered that the statement was released via its website on Wednesday.
The statement said the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine gained approval after a two-month independent review on safety and efficacy.
“Canadians should feel confident that the review of the vaccine was thoroughly done and that we equally have strong monitoring systems in place.
“Health Canada and the Public Health Agency of Canada will closely monitor the safety of the vaccine once it is on the market and will not hesitate to take further action if any safety concerns are been identified.

Responding to the development, the Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau had on Monday said that Canada would get up to 249,000 doses before the end of December, while 4 million doses of the vaccine are expected by March 2021.
