EDITOR’S PICK:
Catarrh is one of the health disorders that causes a lot of discomforts. This happens when your throat and nose are irritated, causing you to secrete a lot of mucus.
You have to go around with a handkerchief to get rid of the continual production of mucus coming out of your nose. Sometimes, these can return to your throat.
If you don’t have catarrh, the mucus should serve as a food lubricant in your gut to allow easy passage of food. It is secreted to serve as a protective measure for the cells of the epithelium in your throat, lungs, and nose.
This won’t allow bacteria to enter your body through the epithelium. You might have catarrh without having a stuffy nose. It can happen when the sinuses in your nose are infected, exposed to cold weather, or have an allergic reaction.
1. Drink hot tea instead of cold drinks
The steam from hot tea can help clear your nose of any congestion. However, make sure that the tea doesn’t contain caffeine. It can be made from ginger or herbs. This can help in healing your sore throat.
2. Drink Enough water
Your body will lose a lot of fluid when you have catarrh. Ensure that you stay hydrated by drinking a lot of water. This will make it easier for you to flush out any mucus in your nose and avoid congestion.
Avoid eating or drinking anything that will make your nose or mouth dry, such as alcohol
3. Use Steam
Boil some water and position your nose above the steam coming out from it. This will humidify the mucus that has congested your nose and trachea. Avoid bathing with cold water and go for a hot shower.
