Catholic Song Composer Sues E-Money & KCee For Theft
- The Catholic song Composer sued both brothers for copyright infringement
- It was originally sung in 2001 when Jude Nnam gave birth to his first daughter
- According to the composer, He wrote the song in gratitude to God for his first daughter.
Jude Nnam , a Catholic music composer, who composed the popular song titled ” Somtochukwu” has filed a 150 million naira suit against E-money (Emeka Okonkwo) , KCee and 5 Star Music Ltd for reproducing, marketing, and distributing his work without requesting his permission as the original owner of the song.
According to a statement from his Attorney who initiated suit no FHC/L/CS/304/202, The Defendants are guilty of copyright infringement.
Sir Dr. Jude Nnam wants the court to mandate the defendants to return all the proceeds and profits they made from reproducing and selling his song “somtochukwu” under the cover of an album titled cultural praise volume. 1.
He requested the sum of 150 million naira for compensation and the court should mandate an immediate halt to further infringement on his song, EKO HOT BLOG gathered.
The Nigerian lawyer who reported this information also revealed that Sir Dr. Jude Nnam had initially composed the song that is commonly sung by Catholic churches since 2001.
Kcee reproduced the song since December 2020 and till date, their album is still in circulation.
