The National President of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association (MACBAN), Muhammadu Kirowa, has insisted that its members are worst affected by the security situation in the country. 

Represented by the National Secretary of the Association, Baba Uthman Ngelzama, the association’s leader, who stated this on Monday during a meeting with governors in Akure, Ondo State, said 10,000 members have been killed with more than 5,000 cattle rustled.

He maintained that they are a peaceful and democratic group.

While stressing that dialogue is key to ensuring peaceful coexistence, he pointed out that poor management of the relationship between herders and farmers led to recent clashes.

The group’s leader also assured that they are open to working with the government to combat all forms of criminality.

“All our state excos are to work with security outfits within the ambit of the law. We condemn all forms of criminality and will not condone such,” he said.

He backed the ban placed on night grazing all over the country, adding that it is the major cause of conflicts between farmers and herders.
