Back Pain is a leading cause of disability worldwide. It is one of the reasons most people miss work. However certain health conditions may give rise to this symptom.
1. Arthritis
Arthritis is a disease that causes inflammation of the joints. There are many types of arthritis such as osteoarthritis, monoarthritis, rheumatoid and septic arthritis.
Sometimes osteoarthritis may affect the lower back pain.
2. Osteoporosis
Osteoporosis is a disease which makes the bones soft and brittle. This may sometimes give rise to fractures. It is one disease that may cause pain in the lower back.
3. Muscle or ligament strain
Sometimes due to how a person sits, stands or is due to lifting heavy objects, there may be a strain on the back muscles or ligaments.
4. Bulging or ruptured disk
Discs act as cushions between the bones in the spine. Sometimes these discs may rupture or press on nerves around the spine resulting in Back Pain.
1. Exercise
Mild aerobic exercise may help to prevent back pain. Examples of this kind of exercise are walking and swimming. But tell your doctor about which exercise you choose to do.
2. Build muscle strength and flexibility
Abdominal and back muscle exercises may strengthen your core so that they work closely with the muscles.
3. Maintain a healthy weight
Being overweight can increase your chances of getting back pain. By maintaining a healthy weight, you may reduce your risk of developing back pains.
4. Quit smoking
Smoking may put you at the risk of getting back pain. By quitting smoking ( if you are a smoker) or avoiding smoking you may be reducing your risk.
