The Police Inspector General of Nigeria, Abubarka Adamu has urged Igbo leaders to alert the banned indigenous peoples of Biafra (IPOB) and its Eastern Security Network of their activities in the southeast region of Nigeria.
The inspector General warns that freedom cannot be achieved by violent means, adding that the emerging trend of killing police officers and burning stations will no longer be tolerated, Eko hot blog gathered.
Abubarka Adamu, spoke on Tuesday, 2nd march, 2021 at the Women’s Development Center in Awka, Anambra state during the Anambra State Security Summit.
He was represented by Joseph Egbunike, the deputy inspector general of the police responsible for finance and administration.
But the traditional rulers of the Anambra state, led by Obi von Onitsha, Alfred Achebe, told the IGP that they would not talk about IPOB and ESN.
The governor of the state of Anambra, Chief Willie Obiano, also told the security authorities, the monarchs, the presidents of the city union, the leaderships of Ohanaeze and the youth that Herdsmen would no longer be allowed in any municipality in the state.
“They are the people who kill and rape our women in society. We will position the military, police in Omor, Ayamelum, Orumba and other municipalities to wreak havoc in the state in order to contain the excesses of the Herdsmen.” Obiano said.

Governor Obiano said everything about security is number one for his administration, adding that without security, “you are dead on arrival”.
But the IGP, which praised Obiano for his support for the security authorities in Anambra, said that certain things should not happen in Anambra..
“There is a trend in this area, like the killing and burning of police stations in the state. They have different names and things like that don’t happen in the West.
“No freedom movement has ever succeeded by violent means. As stations are burned, our sons and daughters are killed and anarchy is brewing.
“Those who call themselves IPOB or Eastern Security Network ESN and are deceived and misled should always seek guidance from the elders. And we want to be president, is that the way to do it? It’s a big challenge for Ndigbo.
